Donor Spotlight: Lockheed Martin
Each of our generous donors and partners have a special story for why they choose to support military families through NMFA. We are honored to share these stories with you.
It was natural for Lockheed Martin to turn to the National Military Family Association (NMFA) to make a lasting impact on the military community.
The global security and aerospace company supports the needs of the Department of Defense, and for the last 20 years, has been a committed partner of NMFA, donating more than $1,000,000 to improve the lives of military families through our restorative programs and advocacy.
Partnership in Action
With one in five of its 116,000 employees being military-connected, Lockheed Martin deeply understands the sacrifices and challenges unique to military life. They are dedicated to supporting service members with programs that improve their lives and the lives of their families, enhance education and training opportunities, and honor their selfless duty to our country.

In 2020, when a global pandemic left us without in-person Operation Purple® programs, Lockheed Martin was there to support our quick shift to launch Operation Purple at Home—our virtual at-home camp experience. Employees stepped in to volunteer as virtual “camp counselors” to guide military kids through various activities and live meetups to keep campers connected during a time of uncertainty and distance.
This year, more than 100 military family members will experience connection within their own families, find community where they thought there was none, and find respite in nature as they attend an Operation Purple Family Retreat, generously sponsored by Lockheed Martin.
But that’s not all. Lockheed Martin’s partnership has helped our Military Spouse Scholarship Program empower spouses to continue their education goals, pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions, and contribute to the financial stability of their household. Each year, hundreds of spouses receive funding awards, thanks in part to Lockheed Martin.
Together We’re Stronger
Together over the last two decades, NMFA and Lockheed Martin have seen the nation’s longest war, high deployments rates among the families we support, and even the launch of additional Operation Purple programming for the entire family.
